KML Springs Forward, Falls Back

We’re goin’ nuts. And it ain’t just cause of the dripping heat! Though that sure has made rehearsals in our warehouse office space/old textile factory almost unbearable. Thank God for all the jokes we’ve been cracking…

Our new show, KML Springs Forward Falls Back, is comin’ down on ya like a mudslide–July 10 through 27 at SF’s Dance Mission Theater. We’re really excited about it–not just cause it features a veteran writer/performer making his directing debut (Andy Alabran) or cause it features 2 new lobster dudes and one lobster lady we haven’t worked with in years–in addition to three hilarious veterans… We’re excited cause it’s subject couldn’t be more wide-ranging and enticing:

History! Yours, mine, ours…

Sketches we’re lining up are all about pilgrims, sit-ins, cavemen, Super Mario Brothers, the “great” depression, instant messaging between historical figures and surprises galore. We’ve opened the history books and are crackin the spines… Come check it out beginning july 10!

KML For the Very First Time

Where the ladies at?

For real. Where them funny KML ladies at?! The answer: ODC Theatre, this November–as KML proudly presents KML For the Very First Time, a world premiere sketch comedy all about first-time experiences–starring the ladies of Killing My Lobster. No men in this one–just the hilarious XX’s (chromosomes, folks) of KML.

Our very first all-female sketch show, KML For the Very First Time runs from November 8 through December 9 at ODC Theater (site of our KML Faces the Music earlier this year). Directed by KML veteran Shaye Troha, the show is a cornucopia of all sorts of awkward, titilating, and incendiary “first time” experiences: from the first female president of the U.S., to a child’s first interaction with the boogie man, to the first time a cowboy kills a man, and more.

Don’t miss out! If you like virgins and virgin experiences (again–minds out of the gutter, folks) check out KML For the Very First Time, Nov 8 thru Dec 8 at ODC.

KML Saves the Day

Summertime is the season of blockbusters at the cineplex–and this summer, KML presents an all new sketch comedy show about superheroes: KML Saves the Day! A true blockbuster of the absurd imagination, KML’s superhero show will be tighter than you wearing your old underoos. Lovers and haters of comic book culture, superhero lore, and the general oddballs who think they have an alter ego  will find something to savor in this ode to the superpowers in all of us. KML Saves the Day–directed by longtime lobster Sarah Mitchell–is up, up, and away June 1 through the 17 at SF’s Eureka Theater. More details soon!

Saves the Day Extends!
Like the Flash saving a little boy about to perish, the good folks at the Eureka Theater have given us the green light to extend our superhero sketch comedy show, KML Saves the Day, two more weeks!

Called “a very funny reminder of what (KML) is capable of” (San Francisco Bay Guardian) and proof that “KML seems to have the most innovative sketch material” (Contra Costa Times), KML Saves the Day plays Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 pm and Saturdays at 7 and 10 pm through June 30.

Wednesday and Saturday late night shows are pay-what-you-can!

THE OPENING NUMBER:

BOB REESE: As you can see, everybody brings their own hopes and biases into the booth with them. And that my friends…

Piano tinkle…

BOB REESE: (Singing) …is what makes American great.

It’s the second of November
In case ya didn’t remember
It’s time to gather
And time to say

Bob keeps singing, others hum underneath

You’ve got one vote
And know just what to do
You’ll vote the way
The guardian tells you to

Because its….

EVERYONE
Election Day! Election Day!
Here’s your chance for you to say:
Stay four more or go away.
Election Day! Election Day!
Black or white, straight or gay
Change the world in just one day

Transition to goovy section

WOMEN –
Catchy Slogans
Campaign Ads
Exit Polls — uh-huh!
And Hanging Chads! Chads! Chads!

MEN
Concession Speeches
Campaign Stops
Focus Groups – that’s right!
And Photo Ops! Ops! Ops! Ops!

WOMEN
Terminator
Bureacrats
Propositions – sing it!
And Funny Hats! Hats! Hats!

EVERYONE
Calling Donors
Raising Funds
Waving Flags —come on now!
And Banning Guns! Guns! Guns!

Spoken interlude section over piano…

AGBY: I think handicap people should be put on their own special island. Do I have your attention now? Good! Because as a political consultant, I’m in the attention getting business.

SISLOWITZ: Unlike my opponent, I do not think we should ban guns. Guns don’t kill people. And the people who kill people with guns don’t kill people either. You know how people die? When they’re put in an ambulance. When I’m elected I’m going to stop the killing – I’m going to ban the ambulances!

WASHINGTON: I was just a mom who got sick and tired of picking up hypodermic needles at my neighborhood park. Then whammo! I got elected to the city council. Now they want me to run for the U.S. Senate!

DINKLEY: 22 years as a campaign advisor…and those are like dog years…if you fed your dog a whole bunch of methamphetamine. Which is to say, I’ve seen it all…with my one good eye.

LIZ: I still get a little confused about politics. I do like a candidate who’s got a good poster.

BOB REESE: Covering a campaign is like making love to woman…sometimes it feels good and sometimes it makes you question your sexual orientation.

AGBY: I’m Suzanne Agby.

SISLOWITZ: I’m Neil Sislowitz

WASHINGTON: I’m Kerry Washington.

DINKLEY: I’m Warren Dinkley

LIZ: I’m Liz Dubinsky-Smith

BOB REESE: And I’m Bob Reese.

Back to the groovy section

EVERYONE
Voter Guides
People say
Pull the lever
It’s election day! Day! Day!

Big finish!

THE FINALE:
<>

Liz: Wait! I’m not a dancer, I’m a voter! And you’re Suzanne agby, and your neil sislowitz and warren dinkly and kerry Washington and you your Bob reese. Don’t you guys remember?
