CONSIDER IT: Intern with KML   PDF  Print  E-mail
The guy to your left is Steven Kalmakis. He's a great guy and a funny dude too. He was also an intern with KML a few summers ago--and he'd tell you that it was one of his favorite parts of being in San Francisco. KML needs more great folks like Steven who want to lend a hand, get college credit, make connections in the art world of the Bay Area, and laugh a lot along the way. Do you have what it takes to intern with this rough and ready crew of jokers? Then keep reading below to find out more specifics...

We hire several interns  every year to  work several days a week for 3  straight months.  If you're interested in learning more about how a non-profit arts organization makes  its way in the world today and if you dig what the Lobster  does and  want to join  the cause maybe a KML  internship is for  you.  Applications are now being accepted, so read on and then get in touch!

Internship requirements:

Minimum:
-2 days a week commitment
-Great organizational skills
-Interest in arts administration and production development
-A good sense of humor

What’s the internship all about?

We’re looking for someone interested in learning how to create, produce and promote independent theater and film. As a Killing My Lobster intern you’ll be working on numerous projects that make up our 2007/08 season. From marketing to audience development, from fundraising to recruiting submissions for our annual film festival you’ll always be busy (and we hope frequently entertained) at the Killing My Lobster HQ in SF’s Mission District.

So what am I actually going to be doing?

You’ll be coming to work at our office two full days a week and assisting KML producers with new productions and administrative tasks. From creating press kits to researching grant opportunities, from talking to TV stations to tracking down props and costumes for the upcoming show, from assisting with film shoots to selling Killing My Lobster t-shirts this internship covers a lot of ground.

5 things we’re looking for in an intern:

flexibility
persistence
focus
close attention paid to detail
direction
willingness to learn and laugh a lot

A few things that we’re NOT looking for in an intern:

impatience
lack of organization
fear of talking on the phone

Is it paid?

Not really, but we are offering a ‘burrito stipend’ to help cover some commuting costs and a little lunch.

How to apply:

If you’re interested in working with us  please write us a short email – 1 paragraph should suffice – telling us:

why you are interested in this internship
what film/theater experience you recently had that got you psyched
what you are looking to get out of a 3 month tour of duty with KML
have you attended any KML productions?

Please write your name, email and phone number at the top of your note to us and  include   a resume too. Send the email to: info@killingmylobster.com .
