Prey for Rock 'n' Roll (pic)   PDF  Print  E-mail
Look at this picture.

Now imagine that you are on a schoolbus on your way to Fern Hill Elementary School. Everyday on the ride home, Mrs. Ball the bus driver with the funny hat drives bus 10 right down the street, past Linwood Benner's house and past a loading station full of these trucks. Say it to yourself, "A Duie Pyle"....Oh my god...so hilarious.

It's like the worst location they could have picked, the worst name ever. At least they didn't paint the trucks brown.

 A Duie Pyle....still funny.

I was holed up at The Bewl HQ this Easter weekend, drawin, making magic, and sipping my soy drinks. I watched the lesbian/bisexual/punkrock LA grrrl band movie Prey for Rock and Roll starring the one and only lesbian/bisexual/punkrock LA grrrl, Ms. Gina Gershon. Gina also produced this movie. Good for you, Gina. You certainly made A Duie Pyle. (OMG still great) This movie is actually kind of an amazing period piece crica 2002. The clothes, hair, and sort of attitude (by attitude I mean the candles Gina has in her apartment) all lead up to two years ago. And they nailed it. It's hard to do a period drama, but they really got it. Don't rent this unless you are really into Lori Petty. She is in this movie too playing a like 50 year old guitar teacher. Uh...so what part of lesbian/bi rock party movie did NOT appeal to you, Gina? Was it the hot sex? Cause there is none. And don't count that thing in the beginning where it reveals how self-important your character is, cause that is lame.

I also watched Comic Book: the Movie. Watch this movie only if you think too much about Galactus' size compared to the Silver Surfer and if Vampirella is your idea of high art. But kudos to director and star Mark Hamill, yup, that one, for making a movie about something he cares about so deeply and for casting a bunch of great voice over actors. There are genuine moments of terrific improv in this and swell inside dork jokes. Which of course flew right over this Kryptonian's head.

 Super poops,
 Bewley-ou
