Summer Movie 2K2 Kickoff   PDF  Print  E-mail

Well little friends, the big summer push is on!

 I couldn't be more excited.

2K2 started off for me last night when in a totally empty theater, I went to see Spiderman. I guess everyone has already spent their money seeing this thing, as there was really no one there. I have to say, that of the sixteen trailers they played before the main event, the most outrageous was an animated Dreamworks feature called Spirit or something like that. I screamed.  This looks horrible.  Please do not see it.  Tell your friends.  Animated horses and a native american animal lover do not a happy Bewley make.  And I have an inkling down where my nobbies are that this is gonna be a big ole pile of manure.

 But anyway - Spiderman.

Kirsten Dunst what is going on with your front tooth?  I mean the sexy wet pink dress is cool and all, but your tooth had me occupied the entire evening.  Why was it catching the light that way?  Why was it ever so crooked and yet, perfect for you? It had me baffled.

Overall a good little romp.  Although it could have used more...SPIDERMAN!! For chrissakes.  I want to see the bastard in the tights and I want lots of him.  The Goblin was a piece of trash.  Wilem Dafoe is scary enough without some stupid pin head robot mask.  Every scene with him in the goblin suit was like watching a Power Rangers video.  They could have been filmed in Japan for all I know as you can't see their mouths moving and their faces are completely concealed.  What's up with that?   All in all though, it was fun seeing spidey do his thing.  The web stuff still makes no sense.  Does it go away?  Does it just hang there?

And despite Mr. Charney's objection I think Mr. Maguire was well cast.  Not quite enough of the goofball that the comics Peter Parker is, but charmingly awkward.

Now bring on Yoda and that lightsaber duel! I want to see that little puppet kick ass.

 -Bewley out.
