The Others   PDF  Print  E-mail
Well...
Labor day means the end of Summer Blockbusters...and not a minute too soon. Whadda backed up port-o-john we had there. Yuck. Time to get serious and make some interesting bids for Mr. Oscar.

I had to have one last summer fling and went to see The Others with Ms. Nicole "Now I don't wear heels" Kidman.

This foggy creepy haunted house story is pretty good. I wasn't scared - but the cinema at Jack London Square in Oakland had a glitch about a third of the way through and I missed a crucial set up. Though I still guessed what you need to guess by the time the thirteen year old gangsta girl called her supervisor over and went over and got the sixteen year old dweeby kid who runs the projector to fix the gaffe. The whole screen was jumping up and down, and if you're like me, you're prone to a little sickness when large objects are bouncing in front of you and you're trying to figure out who stole the goddamn curtains.

Anyhow - I liked it. Nicole looked like Princess Grace, and that made me miss Princess Grace.

Also I saw Eyes of Tammy Faye and I highly recommend it to all you renters out there. Even better on DVD and real nice and big at the digital theater of Mr. Paul Charney. I especially enjoyed the puppets and Jim J. Bullock's appearance.
