What you do with the Lobster: Write music, perform music, write sketches What's your deal: I started out by auditioning for the Lobsters, hoping to act in a sketch show. I wrote a sketch with my friend Brian Gorman (drummer for such hit rock acts as San Francisco's own Tartufi), and we performed it for the Lobsters In Attendance, and they liked the sketch so much, they told me to do music instead. But seriously folks. I got to write a sketch for GOOOAL!!!, I got to work on the music for Pop! and my fancy pantsy band, The Boneless Children Foundation, performed said music, and the rest is history. Well, not really "history," per se. But the rest includes music work on a Bruno's Island play, musical directatorship of The Wonderful World of Science sketch show, and sound design & theme composition for Peter Nachtrieb's fantastic play, Hunter Gatherers.
Outside of my work with the Lobsters, I've also done sound design and/or music composition for some other theater groups, including Boxcar Theatre and One Kind Theatre, and I otherwise spend much of my time playing music with my aforementioned fancy pantsy rock band, The Boneless Children Foundation, for whom I play guitar & sing & write songs & such. And I run a photo-based webcomic on my rock band's website, which I've been doing since October 28, 2005. On the dot.
Oh! And I have almost all of the music I've ever done for the Lobsters posted up on my website - www.davidsophia.com. Including a Special Page containing all the Lobster-only music! Hooray! Come and enjoy!
I ♥ the Lobsters! Oh, and a new webcomic comes out every Monday! Huzzah! |
