SAN FRANCISCO, January 1 2006 ––All aboard the floating comedy cruise! In the grand tradition of such hilarious cruise ship comedies as A Night at the Opera, The Love Boat, and Titanic, the sketch comedy group “Killing My Lobster” sets sail for comedic misadventures with a brand new theme-based show for the nautically naughty: Killing My Lobster Takes a Cruise! Centering on a fleet of odd-couples, stowaways, buffet lovers, and shuffleboard heroes, KML Takes A Cruise aims to capsize the crowd with a boatload of belly laughs. This production is funded in part by the Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation.
This time out the show is directed by acclaimed San Francisco theater director and acting coach John Dixon (Nicky Silver’s Beautiful Child at Theater Rhino - see bio below), and the steel-drum cruise ship rhythms are put together by SF jazz band leader Erik Jekabson (trumpet player for John Mayer). The cast features Lobster regulars and new company members and the writing is helmed by KML founders Paul Charney and Marc Vogl. The writing process is currently in full swing and the gang will be rehearsing throughout the winter.
Killing My Lobster Takes a Cruise is sketch comedy proving that it ain’t just Carnival whose got the fun, and “cruising” has a different meaning outside of the Castro.
