Killing My Lobster, the gang the press is calling “the hottest sketch group working in the Bay Area,” presents a new comedy show just in time for election season. Sex scandals rock the sixth-grade as class President Tyler Munson denies getting to “second base”; Matt Gonzalez runs SF from the Horseshoe Cafe in the Lower Haight; The Whig Party returns to challenge the Democratic/ Republican choke-hold on government and an improv coach visits the White House to teach “team-building” exercises to the top brass. There will also be jokes about Bush, Kerry, swing voters, the Secret Service and journalists with terribly big hair.
The show features veteran Killing My Lobster performers: Tonya Glanz, John Kovacevich, Daniel Lee, Sarah Mitchell, Shaye Troha and Jon Wolanske. and is directed by Lobster co-founder Marc Vogl. The free-wheeling jazz band is led by Andrew Epstein costumes are designed by SF Opera costumers Christo Verdosci and Sally Thomas, and just to round out the night the show also includes short films about how everyone in SF basically just votes the way the Bay-Guardian tells them to. As the election approaches this show is intended to take politics so seriously you have to laugh.
Killing My Lobster Goes to the Polls is funded in part by the San Francisco Arts Commission and Theater Bay Area’s CA$H Grant program.
