In 2009, KML is returning to play territory. Last time we were there the production was Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's darkly comic Hunter Gatherers (you can read all about the fabled history of that production--a still from which is pictured at right--right here).
This time out, former Bay Area playwright Matt Pelfrey takes us down south to L.A., the setting for his Pure Shock Value, which will receive its world premiere at the Exit Theater in early Spring, 2009. The plot: three industry bottom-feeders, on the brink of abandoning their Hollywood ambitions, find an incoherent, partially-clad homeless man in their backyard doghouse. When they realize his true identity (that of a once big time Hollywood insider now down on his luck), they pitch him their dream movie project. What follows is a surreal comic journey through the underbelly of Hollywood, far from Beverly Hills three-picture deals, and anything else they could have ever expected. The production will blow the roof off of SF's Exit Theater February 26-March 22, 2009. Stay tuned for more details soon.
