In 2009, KML is returning to play territory. Last time we were there the production was Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's darkly comic Hunter Gatherers (you can read all about the fabled history of that production--a composite/still from which is pictured at right--right here).
This time out, former Bay Area playwright Matt Pelfrey takes us down south to L.A., the setting for his Pure Shock Value, which will receive its world premiere at the Exit Theater in February, 2009. The plot: Pure Shock Value centers on three film industry bottom-feeders on the brink of abandoning their Hollywood ambitions. When an incoherent, partially-clad homeless man turns up in their backyard, their fortunes take an unexpected turn. Inspired by this mystery man to give their dream movie project one last go, the trio concoct a scheme to stardom—using whatever means necessary. What ensues is a surreal comedic journey through the underbelly of Hollywood, far from Beverly Hills three-picture deals, multi-million dollar profits, and anything else they could have ever expected.
The production is directed by Laley Lippard and features a stellar cast of 4. Tickets will be on sale before Christmas. And more info is coming your way soon. Thanks!
