Bill wrote this script sometime between 1998 and 2000 when he lived in San Francisco, worked with KML and America's love affair with the George Foreman grill was at its zenith. A hidden gem that failed to get into whatever show it was he wrote it for originally Jon resurrected it and included it in 2002's Killing My Lobster Circus of Failure. After the run Marc and Ryan talked to Jon about filming it and the film was shot in an afternoon in Mara's living room in the Western Addition. Within three months of filming Mara, Mitch and Abby had all moved to the East Coast.

There was a self-conscious attempt in the filmmaking to invoke some of the tension and atmosphere that is achieved in the film The Anniversary Party, but regardless of how well that worked one woman who saw the sketch in the show was overheard leaaving the theater saying: "I know people in Marin just like that."
