Lobster Memory Lane – Hafsa Malik ‘Still Crazy’

HAFSA MALIK

What was your first show?
I saw KML’s second production “Loves A Parade” and was in love at first sight.

What was your last show or are you still with the group?
Still crazy after these years.

What You Do/Did For the Group?
Board member, fundraising events, marketing, grant writing, show and video producer, writer, actor.

Favorite Line in a Sketch (name the show too)
It was an off-the-cuff line during an aggressive humping scene in the dark in “KML Goooaaall!” After Melanie screamed, “Who’s my daddy!” Jon Wolanske very softly replied “I don’t know your father.”

Favorite Memory/Moment from your time with KML (onstage or off)
It’s a long list, but here’s just a few… Maura selling meat yogurt in the middle of the audience in Hot August Nights. Jon and Brian playing a couple of robot stand-up comedians at a party in a furniture store on Valencia Street. The “I’ve never” sketch from “Kisses a Toad” where all the characters from the show came together in the end at a naughty slumber party game. Andrew dropping his robe and standing in gold lame shorts in the middle of the entire cast and
audience singing “High Heels.” The Emilys sketch and video. The tripped out “Purple Sticky” sketch from “Faces the Music.” Talking and dozing off all night with Jon, Tonya, Shaye and Sarah all crowded under a blanket on my couch until 8:30am. And every single catchy dance finale we’ve ever done. What a unique and awesome formula we have.

How has KML turned your life around? :)
It’s my favorite thing about San Francisco. I feel like I found my people. Let’s do this forever.
