Advocacy works! The Equitable Payroll Fund has been restored

Thanks to the tireless advocacy work of organizations like the California Arts Council and SF Bay Area Theatre Company (SFBATCO), a series of budget bills signed by the California Legislature on July 1 have restored the $11.5 million Performing Arts Equitable Payroll Fund, intended to help pay performers and keep small performing arts venues in operation. You can read all about it here.

We want to thank any of our community members who wrote emails, made phone calls (sometimes every day), and otherwise got noisy to support arts nonprofits, who desperately need those funds.

CA For The Arts has resumed processing grant applications. We are still uncertain of whether Killing My Lobster will be approved, but our hope has been restored. Keep your claws crossed.
